If you have any questions please contact me by clicking here. Please do not attempt a car amp installation if you are not comfortable with the process. Leave it to a professional. Now here are the steps on how to install a car amp. There is also a wiring diagram below.

Apr 13, · I’m pretty sure my subs were still running at 2 ohms but they were hooked up the wrong way. This is the right way to hook 2 4 ohm subwoofers up @ 2 ohms.

Many sub manufacturers especially the cylindrical models such as SVS’s most popular line recommend corner placement. Imaging should be not be affected unless your mains are extremely bass-light so the sub’s crossover has to be set very high. True low-bass somewhere around hz and below becomes very difficult to accurately locate the source of it. This means if your sub is only handling the lower frequencies, placement will just affect it’s output level and possible room resonances, not imaging.
Of course, two subs one in each front corner is the optimal setup; However not all of us can afford these luxuries, and not all of us have rooms large enough to not be overwhelmed by the output of two subs -dd3mon Amp:
How to hook up sub to amp?
Thank you Keith, i think i got it. Looks like i hooked the “tower” four speakers to two channel Sony amp. For some reason two wires going from “L” post on the amp power Right two speakers and two wires going from “R” post on the amp power Left two speakers. Probably just a matter of swapping some wires. For native 4 channel amp that i want to hook up to 4 in-house speakers and two subs the amp’s manual calls it Tri-mode operation wants me to insert “high pass filter capacitors and a low pass filter inductor into the wiring”.
Apr 13, · Re: How to hook up 4 ohm subs, with 2 ohm amp. If you wire the amp in stereo, make sure the signal for each channel is the same. If you have each voice coil playing 2 different things, it could create alot of heat and possibly burn up your sub.
Reading, Pennsylvania yea id agree with ya,,, id probably spend the extra money and get the one that plugs into the harness though,, will make for a cleaner install and plus if you ever wanna change out the head unit all the wires will be behind the head unit AvenDanger said: I assume you have the standard system, and if so try this kit from PAC.
It plugs in between the factory radio and the factory harness and converts the signal to rca line level, and includes a remote turn on lead. The two modules are NOT interchangable, so make sure you know whether you have Boston or standard. These are spendier solutions, but they are plug-n-play, and will yield the best sound quality. Otherwise, you can buy a basic Line Output Converter and attach it to the rear speaker leads to get an RCA level signal into the amp.

Apr 19, · Buy a 2ohm amp and wire all the subs at 2 ohm (parallel) U wire them all negative wires into the negative wires into each sub and the same with positive then the last one out to the amp..I have this set up in my : Resolved.
Or do i need that tacotunes equalizer thing? In my head its like I also thought of I never use my Aux cable. I wouldnt need the car to play if the bed is playing too.. Sounds a bit complicated and I’m not sure it’s worth it. But yes, you have it right for the most part. You use the harness on the back of the head unit and run the leads to the amp you want to supply power to your bed speakers.
The amp also needs speaker inputs AND full-range speaker outputs. The speaker inputs on the amp is where you would plug the wires from the harness into.

Mar 14, · I wanted to make a video to try and show you how to hook up your system (subs and amp). I tried to show you and explain in the easiest way possible so beginners can understand.
You need to run another power wire or you can get a distribution block and split up the wire you already have ran for power. The ground wire you can just connect to a good grounded bolt holding the seats down or something. And as for the RCAs just get a spliter for those too. And on the Kicker subs, The deal with them is that they say that both voice coils MUST be hooked up at all times of it will mess them up A friend of mune had that problem.
With the dual 2ohm Kicker’s you can either wire them in 1ohm or 4ohm. You want to wire that accordingly to what you amp can handle. So I went with the dual 4ohm Kicker S15L7 so that I could wire it in 2ohm the dual 4ohm can be wired in either 2 or 8ohm for one channel of my amp. And I will have a 2ohm load going to the other channel.
I would have went with the dual 2ohm if my amp could handle a 1ohm load. I am doing good with what I got for now. I am fixing to try and add to Kicker 12’s to what I already have. When I get those I am going to have someone professionally build me a bx. I am going to get rid of my back seats.

Feb 02, · I have two jl 10w3v subs ported in a single box that has only one negative and one positive output on the side of the box. My first question is will a logic dbx 2 channel amp be able to power these two : Resolved.
The subs just hook up to the amp — very simple! First, make sure you disconnect the negative terminal on the battery– then you should do the harder part.. Which is running the power wire from the battery back to the trunk where the amp should be mounted I personally mounted mine inside of my car in between my 6×9’s and ran the speaker wire around and down the trunk under the carpeting that just is velcroed down.
You definitely need to run the power wire through a rubber grommet in the firewall. There is one right next to the brake pedal if you pull back the carpet. You can hide it under the kicker panels on the sides. They easily pop out! Hide that wire on the same side as your power wire. Run your RCA’s on the opposite side of your power wire for ground distortion. Ground out your amp to the chassis of the car usually about 3 feet away.

I have a good amp already and just need a new box for my subs. Would I have to run a wire from each rear speaker to the amp or just one? And I’m guessing it’s just a matter of splicing the wires together correct? No special connection needed? I’ve set up a system in all my vehicles previously but I was always adding an aftermarket head unit which made it a simple process.
Jan 06, · the impedednce doesnt come from the amp. it depends on how you wire your subs. your subs will be either dual 2 ohm, dual 4 ohm or dual 6 ohm most likely. those diagrams show 2 different ways to wire them up and what your final impedence will be when wired that way, depending on what ohm load your subs carry. if you want your subs to see 2 ohms.
Whether it’s an installation that might not have gone as planned, or a random problem that comes out of nowhere. Here is a list of your common car stereo problems, symptoms and solutions to help get your stereo up and running! Many Jeeps and Chevrolet systems have a data signal wire that carries a very low voltage signal that tells the OEM Head Unit when to turn on, however; it is not compatible with aftermarket units.
If you have a voltage meter or a test light, test the ground black , constant 12v yellow , and accessory 12v red wires to make see if you have the correct voltage in the correct wires, as well as a good ground. Constant will always be 12v, whether or not your car is on. Make sure to use your ground, as well as another ground like the frame or body of the car while testing your constant and accessory to test that you have a good ground.
4 subs, different ohms, 1 amp?
How Do I Hook Up my subwoofer? Hook up Powered Subwoofers: Receiver Pre-Outs Before trying to hook up your subwoofer, you need to identify the connections it has. First, take a look at the back of your subwoofer. There may be more, but this is all you’ll need to properly connect your subwoofer.
Danny, You wire two DVC 4-ohm subs to an amp that can handle a 1-ohm load like this, If you want to utilize the amp’s dual-terminal set-up, you can disconnect the positive and negative leads of Sub 2 (in the diagram) from Sub 1 and connect them to the positive and negative terminals of the amp.
I have a much better understanding of ohm cooking. I have two combo amps. One is a Fender Superchamp X2. The one speaker out jack that the internal speaker is connected to says Minimum 8 ohms. The other amp is a Vox AC10 with a speaker out jack of 16 ohm. I found the Bugera TS On the back it has a 4ohm mono jack and a 16ohm mono jack. I know the Vox will work best through the 16 ohm mono jack.
I think the Fender would work fine going to one of the jacks with the stereo switch engaged knowing that the output would only come through one of the speakers. I think… Could I reasonably connect the Minimum 8 ohm out from the Fender to one of the mono 4 or 16 ohm jacks.
