When me and my partner came to window to womb Southampton we were greeted with lovely smiles from all staff and all the details about our scan were made clear which was important to us. We had the gender scan so we were so excited, the staff sounded genuinely interested in us and congratulated us which was so lovely. Staff were down to earth and really did make our experience wonderful. When we were called into the scan room the scan lady and her assistant were so lovely and kind and were happy to tell us we were having a little boy, my partner also wanted the heartbeat tattood on him so they made sure to get a good clear picture for us. Nothing was too much for them. Very emotional and amazing experience, nothing was rushed and everyone was made to feel comfortable. The baby was led in an awkward position but they were patient in letting me try and move him. If you pregnant and want an intimate, special scan definitely go here! The picture quality was amazing! X the staff were so lovely, we had our own personal reasons for wanting the scan and the staff were so patient and happy to answer any of our questions.
Sonographer doing an echocardiogram in a child Echocardiogram in the parasternal long-axis view, showing a measurement of the heart’s left ventricle Health societies recommend the use of echocardiography for initial diagnosis when a change in the patient’s clinical status occurs and when new data from an echocardiogram would result in the physician changing the patient’s care. Transthoracic echocardiogram A standard echocardiogram is also known as a transthoracic echocardiogram, or cardiac ultrasound.
In this case, the echocardiography transducer or probe is placed on the chest wall or thorax of the subject, and images are taken through the chest wall. This is a noninvasive, highly accurate, and quick assessment of the overall health of the heart.

Follow Medic8Health Dating scan During the course of the pregnancy, every mother should have at least two scans. These help to ensure the pregnancy goes smoothly, and to identify any problems ahead of time. The dating scan is generally the first ultrasound that every mother-to-be will have. What is the purpose of the dating scan? While many women will have a good idea of when they had their last menstrual period, another portion will be far less certain.
This can be due to a number of factors, including whether the pregnancy was planned or not, and if the mother often has irregular periods. The scan also gives a due date, which is sometimes a small range of dates due to a difference with your own dating attempt. An accurate due date is crucial so that, in the event of being overdue, your doctor knows whether you are drastically overdue or simply a few days late. When does the dating scan take place?
Your doctor will ask you questions about when you had your last menstrual period, and estimate that ovulation occurred 14 days into the cycle, but some mothers may be unsure. However this is not usually a problem, as the best time for a dating scan falls between 8 and 12 weeks, a month-long period. Dating scans are much less reliable after 13 weeks because at this stage babies often start growing at different rates.
What does the sonographer look for? These are basic calculations such as the length from crown to rump head to the end of the bottom , the femur length longest bone in the body , and the head circumference.
Pregnancy ultrasound scans: an overview
Anthony Chambers My daughter was in the wrong position during the scan, so no picture of the face was produced. That would be fine, but instead of giving up, they attempted to get pictures for over an hour. My wife was then in pain for the next day. We paid top dollar for this scan, but they wanted even more money to do another scan. The correct thing to do would have been to abandon the scan once it was sure that our daughter was in the wrong position.
Instead, we were kept there way too long, then told that we can rebook.
The patient will need to inform their GPs/midwives that they are contemplating having a 4-D scan or early pregnancy scan and receive a letter of approval to bring with them to the ultrasound clinic. 2.

The first CT scanner developed by Hounsfield in his lab at EMI took several hours to acquire the raw data for a single scan or “slice” and took days to reconstruct a single image from this raw data. The latest multi-slice CT systems can collect up to 4 slices of data in about ms and reconstruct a x matrix image from millions of data points in less than a second. An entire chest forty 8 mm slices can be scanned in five to ten seconds using the most advanced multi-slice CT system.

The shocking X-ray delays date back to at least January and affect patients across the West Midlands, including Birmingham and Worcestershire.

Doppler Ultrasound The doppler shift principle has been used for a long time in fetal heart rate detectors. Further developments in doppler ultrasound technology in recent years have enabled a great expansion in its application in Obstetrics, particularly in the area of assessing and monitoring the well-being of the fetus, its progression in the face of intrauterine growth restriction, and the diagnosis of cardiac malformations. Doppler ultrasound is presently most widely employed in the detection of fetal cardiac pulsations and pulsations in the various fetal blood vessels.
The “Doptone” fetal pulse detector is a commonly used handheld device to detect fetal heartbeat using the same doppler principle. Blood flow characteristics in the fetal blood vessels can be assessed with Doppler ‘flow velocity waveforms’. Diminished flow, particularly in the diastolic phase of a pulse cycle is associated with compromise in the fetus. Various ratios of the systolic to diastolic flow are used as a measure of this compromise.
The blood vessels commonly interrogated include the umbilical artery , the aorta , the middle cerebral arteries , the uterine arcuate arteries , and the inferior vena cava.
Having a scan in the first few months of pregnancy can be a thrilling experience. It’s amazing to see the little blob with a heartbeat that will soon become your baby. When will I have my first scan? For most mums-to-be, the first scan will be a dating scan at between 10 weeks and 13 weeks plus six days of pregnancy NICE However, the timing of your first scan will also depend on how your pregnancy is going, and where you live.
Your midwife may recommend an early scan at between six weeks and 10 weeks if you have experienced bleeding.

Twitter Advertisement Do online dating websites work? Differences Between Dating Apps Tinder vs. Differences Between Dating Apps With so many different dating apps out there, how do you know which one is the right one for you? Don’t worry, here’s a breakdown of the four most popular choices. To explore this topic, I pulled aside two individuals who I knew were hunting for a long-term relationship using online dating websites, and asked them about their experiences with the services.
The two services used by these individuals were OKCupid and Match. What I learned from carrying out an interview of a female and the interview of a male trying to dig into this intriguing subject was that using the Internet for dating is equally painful for men and for women, but for very different reasons. No…online dating involves just cold, shallow text. As far as a guy is concerned, women have it made. Unfortunately, the reality is nowhere near that fantasy.
